Software-Defined AV | VINGLOOP Opens Its API, Bringing Switches into the Platform Ecosystem

In AV-over-IP systems, switches perform fundamental tasks including device connectivity, data forwarding, PoE power delivery, and network status management. As AV-over-IP systems continue to become more software-defined and platform-based, switches also need to be integrated into unified control and management workflows.

To meet this need, VINGLOOP has opened up its API capabilities, allowing switch functions such as port status, device information, and PoE power delivery to be integrated into control systems, smart-space platforms, and integrated media platforms. This enables third-party platforms to call VINGLOOP switch functions directly, without requiring repeated access to the switch management interface for separate operations. Through a unified API, VINGLOOP switches can be recognized, called, and centrally managed according to the logic of different platforms.

From “Network Device” to “Platform Component”

In integrated control applications, Crestron can integrate AV, unified communications, lighting, environmental controls, and third-party devices into a single space control system. With VINGLOOP integrated into the Crestron platform, relevant status information and management functions can be brought directly into the Crestron project interface, where they can be displayed and accessed alongside other devices in the space.

 

Q-SYS uses a software platform to integrate audio, video, and control capabilities, while supporting extensions through third-party devices, scripts, and plugins. Through the VINGLOOP API, switch network status, port management, and PoE control can be incorporated into Q-SYS workflows, providing a more centralized point of operation for AV spaces such as meeting rooms, classrooms, and exhibition halls.

 

For enterprise space management, Space365 uses AI and IoT to connect devices and services, while centrally managing device operation, space status, and routine operation and maintenance. As a manageable device within the platform, a VINGLOOP switch can provide upper-layer systems with network connectivity, port status, and power management information, bringing network devices into the space operations framework as well.

 

In all-IP integrated media applications, AV-Switch integrates audio processing, video wall processing, centralized control, and visualized management. By calling the VINGLOOP API, switch port, power, and operating status can be incorporated directly into the integrated media platform, enabling unified management alongside AV services in classrooms, meeting rooms, exhibition halls, and other application scenarios.

Open APIs Make Complex Networks Easier to Manage

Through open APIs, VINGLOOP switches, serving as the network foundation, can also be integrated into the control and management workflows of upper-layer software platforms. For system integrators, this means more flexible interface design, more centralized device management, and less switching between back-end management interfaces and fewer repetitive operations.

As AV systems become increasingly software-defined, APIs can also connect with more control systems, management software, and industry platforms, extending into device orchestration, automated operation and maintenance, and scenario-based control. VINGLOOP will continue to enhance its interface capabilities and work with more ecosystem partners to expand the application of professional AV networks.
